Good example of Tom's ability to manifest the way something complex can flash through the imagination in an instant- how the whole scenario is presented in two panels, 7 and 8, full form. Then you are left gazing at the wonders of the universe.
A great story, so nicely told. I always think about things like this. "Hey, I could live in that thing...wonder what that would be like?" But to capture it with such a combination of mundane, yet joyful images. As though there was nothing unusual about living in a big column with an observatory. No big deal. And the lovely touches like the stretched leg in frame 1 and the cropping in the "just imagine" frame. And the hole in the floor with the ladder. Lovely work.

ReplyDeleteHigh Quality comic. Someday maybe you can live in a concrete pillar. I'll come over all the time.
ReplyDeleteThe floor plan is similar to my house in the hollow tree.
