Hand Poem
Rescued from the margins of a notebook. My professor said, " Observe the book closed-" in class, and that struck me as poetic. This poem resulted:
Observe the hand closed:
pointer like an eye shut,
fingers like puppies in a bed,
thumb like a hand over the eyes,
nails like faces trying to hide,
knuckles an arched back,
pinky, the cold one, nuzzling in,
never gets a better spot.

Sunday Comic
I was just eating my 4:50 am Finals Macaroni and Cheese and thinking: "I'm making all this art, but no time for the Rhino? PSH! I should just make some little real fast slapped together comic thing tomorrow." But right then I realized that I was in a uniquely weird psychological territory that needed to get harnessed, and quick, before I got well rested and lost a special insight. That insight was the ability to not filter unformed ideas from exiting the brainspace. It did not emanate from toes - more like the central facial region. Right behind the eyes or cheeks. I'm hyping this too much. Here y'ar:

Mama's Tea Time + Other Sketch
I made this comic in my notebook before the Telephone Jerry theme was out. I drew it in the book and was going to crop out some sketches on the opposite page. I thought I would leave them because that was the comic's original habitat. Also, the other half could just as much be on the Rhino.

Croatan Furniture Set: Part I
Here is the first installment in my effort to create furniture for the cabin/studio/shed in Appomattox. The beginning of the set was a chair, to be built shortly. The chair was inspired by our dining chairs at Croatan. Pictured is a desk and a small side table.

Found Letter Comic
There are still a couple of minor changes I'm going to make, but this is basically done. I'm going to print it with one of those old fashioned photocopiers so that I can use thin paper more easily, and so the ink will soak into the paper better. The actual comic has black outlines around the panels and black text. You can see that in the first shot, but not the later scans.

Black Heart
Pain is all I feel
Dark is all I see
Shadows that conceal
All that used to be
Some day when I'm gone
Someone may recall
Pictures I had drawn
'Fore my tragic fall

New Joke
I've been chuckling to myself over a new joke I made up inspired by some reading I've been doing for my class on Soviet History. Some folks feel bad for the USSR, feel like it could've accomplished some good things. But you know what they say!
30 million wrongs don't make a right!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I Wish
Autofilled by Google, composed by Barry:
I wish I lived in the 50's
I wish I lived in the 70's
I wish I lived in the golden age
I wish I joined the military
I wish I had a boyfriend
I wish I had a girlfriend
I wish I had that
I wish I grew up in the 90's
I wish I grew up in the 60's
I wish I felt better
I wish I didn't know
I wish I didn't love you
I wish I didn't miss you
I wish I didn't love you so

The Taming of the Cardboard Rhino
Once there was a cardboard rhino.
He was so mighty and fearsome.
That the villagers hid to conceal themselves from his wrath.
But their shelters were not enough to protect them.
After the attack, a small child was left behind.
The child set out across the grassy plains.
Into the lair of the cardboard rhino.
The rhino was angered.
And charged.
But the child, showing no fear, only smiled.
And the rhino, having never experienced kindness, halted his charge.
And he protected the child.
The rhino, no longer angry, and the child, no longer alone.
